Rant of the day - weed

I was looking at some post at how employers discriminate how to hire if they have criminal records.

Once upon a time -
in the 1980s,
i was a teenage rocker/metaller that got into hc/metal/thrash and was pretty much straightedge most of the time.

If I was tested back then,
more than likely would have failed because a lot of basements were hot-boxed.
Even though I was not smoking, i was inhaling it.
In the 1990s, I finally got into smoking it everyday and could see the appeal.

the ONLY thing that ever came close to pot for relieving stress and bone/muscle aches was when I got morphine when I got cancer.

If someone is an idiot and claiming marijuana addiction, I say, they are probably full of shit, but I do not doubt if they have physical pain.

There is a legal pot store near me now, but 13 years too late.
I hate smoke. all smoke.
I will stick with vodka to get numb.

Ugly Kid Joe / Scatterbrain show SUCKED BALLS

In the early 1990s, I bought a ticket to their show at The Opera House in Toronto, as I was blown away and had a ton of fun in the pit at Scatterbrain's previous album tour... The Rivoli Club on Queen Street.

I wasted my time and money on this show.
The place was pretty empty, so maybe others knew in advance it would suck shit?

After the start of Ugly Kid Joe's set, I was bored and started reading a newspaper. They weren't heavy at all.
Not just the PA wasn't loud enough, but the songs seemed wimpy.
It was cool the singer ran around the floor and handed out the band's stickers during a guitar solo, but that didn't win me over. ...
and then around 2 years later they were this huge band on MTV and MuchMusic ?
Ugly Kid Joe sounded the same ... they still sucked and I couldn't figure out what others seen in them!

and then, ugh..Scatterbrain... I actually sat through the whole set....
ONLY LATER I was told this was their heroin tour....
dull / boring / nauseating

I was ripped off.
That might have been one of the last concerts I seen in the early 1990s besides Morbid Angel or Entombed.
Never cared again to see live shows, until the late 1990s being invited to a private gig featuring Griffin's new band which I think was ARYAN.

Looking Out For #1

You know what I like? Not doing a damn thing anymore for others, but spending MY time on MY self.
Spent more than the past ten years ripping music, scanning zines, uploading, and re-uploading.
That's over .

Birth School Metallica Death The Inside Story of Metallica (1981-1991)

Birth School Metallica Death-The Inside Story of Metallica (1981-1991) Paperback (2014) by Paul Brannigan (Author), and Ian Winwood (Author).

I finished reading this Metallica book after borrowing it from my sister.

I knew a lot of the facts, since I was a fan, and had bought a lot of rock/metal fanzines and magazines back in the 1980s.

It filled in a lot of details I did not know, so, it is a good history book on the band, for somebody like me that stopped caring about them as much (around 1990).

Cool that Toronto and Canada was mentioned a few times.

Some stuff I was reminded of, pissed me off.

They mention the  Kerrang cover from 1984 where Lars was spray painted (gold or silver).
I had that autographed by the band, and a few years later sold it for next to nothing to a book store.
There were no websites like today with eBay back then to make at least your money back and more. Used book stores, and used record stores were the parasites off anybody that was desperate for money.

The sequel is "Into the Black: The Inside Story of Metallica (1991-2014)" by Paul Brannigan (Author), Ian Winwood (Author), but I am not in a a rush to read that, as I think this period is when the band not only became worldly popular, but also a bunch of rock star fags

Maybe Megadeth also jumped on the rockstar bandwagon too, but for me the difference is, Metallica released only 2 of the greatest albums in metal, then kept adding filler tracks, starting with their "Master of Puppets" album.

Metallica have consistently gone downhill in quality ever since, even if they sold more records.

When the majority of records is sold by popstars, it does not mean that garbage is good.
The majority of people all over this planet also blindly vote for those that are deemed popular by the media.

There WAS a band member, or two, who did get it right.
Like Dave Mustaine ...
Megadeth for me since the debut "Killing Is My Business...And Business is Good", didn't start disappointing me until after they broke up in 2001. ...took awhile to enjoy the comeback albums for different reasons.

Everything (ex-Metallica) Dave Mustaine and his guys put out, even what many old fans thought was weak or simply hard rock, with the "Cryptic Writings" and "Risk" albums (trying to capture that dizzying heights Metallica / Black Sabbath / Ozzy-type success) always gave me songs I could relate to and enjoy, on EVERY Megadeth album......unlike Metallica's.

I had to cherry pick what I liked / enjoyed off Metallica releases, and smiled when the cover songs they played were always million times better than their stinky originals

Not speaking for most real underground metal fans, but merely as one of them, it was a shame what Jason Newsted put up with.
The bassist joined his favourite band, the band he was inspired by, and modeled his own speed/thrash metal outfit on.
FLOTSAM & JETSAM's debut "Doomsday For The Deceiver"  was a power metal / high speed / thrash metal classic.
Imagine Metallica's "Ride The Lightning:" ,  Exodus' "Bonded By Blood" , and Anthrax's "Fistful of Metal" Lp's combined together.

If you buy the "Doomsday For The Deceiver" CD version , you get the bonus of their best song ever, an instrumental from a 12 inch single called "Flotzilla".!

The money must have been pretty good for Jason to stick around, and be treated like a goof, or ignored, for all those years, to stay in Metallica.
I was glad to discover two years ago he was online and selling his debut Newsted - (2013) Metal EP / minii album CD directly to fans, autogrpahed also.
Was cool to buy an inexpensive T-shirt with it.

For unknown reasons, he pulled the plug on his last band, his website, everything.
Just as fast as he appeared, and started touring with Megadeth on Gigantour  , he was gone.

My only guess is too many so-called fans liked it, but never bought a copy like they would with an inferior Metallica album.
His album (2013) Heavy Metal Music LP was impossible for me to find to buy  (I do NOT buy through Amazon, CDBaby, or similar corporate giants), and later, finally discovered the vinyl was on  Discogs  around the time the announcement happened.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsted
and...
Newsted's story, generally from what I know of it, through the internet, magazines, and books like "Birth School Metallica Death" is an old familiar one. Reminds me a lot of another  bass player, Bill Wyman.

Yes, Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones went through a similar band experience, just not any hazing / pranks for years like Newsted endured.

Wyman kept his mouth shut, played, and took whatever money the band gave him, but kept his sanity by staying away as much as possible.
If his book "Stone Alone" is true, Bill Wyman was a sex addict and relieved his stress of hardly getting his songs onto albums, by having a LOT of women
Probably as much or more than Mick Jagger ever has had, but Wyman is one of the most discreet gentlemen in the world or rock...or he had the luxury of the press not caring what he did as he was not Jagger or Keith Richards.

This article / rant won't stop any of you Metallica fanboys from still buying their shit and paying ridiclous prices for concert tickets.
meh.
they helped kickstart the underground scene with some of the coolest stuff along with Venom and Raven and Exciter and countless other bands, so will never completely kick them to the curb.

go read this, you will probably agree with all of it - http://www.kerrang.com/16256/12-reasons-james-hetfield-rocks/

WHAT KILLED THE FWE?

Just finished reading this article right now, and suggest you also do it.---
WHAT KILLED THE FWE? THE QUESTION WE MAY SOON BE ASKING...AND HERE'S THE ANSWER  By Mike Johnson on 2015-03-16 http://www.pwinsider.com/article/92359/what-killed-the-fwe-the-question-we-may-soon-be-askingand-heres-the-answer.html?p=1

Since I can't really afford to support anything, but still feel I should, then my dollars for wrestling go to only buying SHIMMER DVDs. They earned my loyalty with consistently good merchandise and affordable prices.

Been waiting since the end of April , for 2 x 2 DVD combination orders (that is 4 dvd's). My bill said "SHIMMER Vol. 66 & Vol. 67 Two DVD Combo PRE-ORDER (ships during May)",  was to be hoped for released the next week.

It is almost August, so it is 12 weeks overdue.

In the past they have been a little late, so am not that upset yet, especially as VISA can always get my dough back, but starting to get frustrated as the next set of video taping in October will be for Volumes 76 & 77.

That is a lot of dvd volumes they are behind in reproducing for the fans.
Half the blame is due to whoever they hired for manufacturing the finished DVD's (dubbing discs, printing covers).

When you order from SHIMMER and if it includes a "pre-order", then all of it sits, until all of it is ready to go..
Unless you are not a cheapskate like me, and pay for each available DvD separately , apart from the per-ordered, to get quick shipping.

You know me,
sometimes I splurge, then sometimes I save.

I get twisted up over the stupid costs from USPS and CanadaPost when I know they keep carriers who will lose your mail, are irresponsible,  but never get fired.

anyways...
read the article I linked...

Makes me wonder about others selling off their Shimmer DVD collections, as there are downloads where you can get it all (or almost all) for free.

If I start selling off everything online at Discogs and eBay  then you will now that I gave up, and I finally do not care about anything, and don't care about others' survival.
If everybody wants to push for digital only, then fine. I will never send another physical package or letter out, strictly uploads and emails, and will just download everything for free.
Had too many  hard drives die on me and I lost all the music and videos on them. Everybody must be nuts to think I will pay for material that can disappear.

cassettes

A lot of nerds like to act sophisticated and post on forums that cassette tapes deserve to be phased out, "like 8-tracks, betamax, vhs, etc..." because of  "the horrible hiss and muddy sound...my tapes getting eaten... "

uh...
If you don't clean your tape-deck or VCR with a tape cleaner, or use a demagnetizer if you need that also, then whose fault is it if your tapes are eaten ?

It is these kind of people who didn't care that vinyl and cassettes had stopped being manufactured by record companies and replaced by CD's in the early to mid 1990s.

What they forget to tell you while saying how superior CD's are, is that some PRO CD's suffer rot just like certain brands of CD-R's, and stop being able to play.

IF a CD suffers a particular scratch, it no longer works. How is that any better than tapes or vinyl?

In the future, these same types of bipeds will say, and probably are already saying that CD's should be phased out, and iTunes and streaming only is superior.
 uh,
But if your "Cloud" disappears, or you can not access it, or your computer hard-drive dies, then what good was going that route?

..........
been lazy...have some  chrome tapes I will be selling / trading soon, (after they are dubbed!)
Here are the tape covers for some...

TWO SUNS in the sky.

photo from http://newsone.com/992065/earth-may-soon-have-two-suns/

I don't know about any of you, but every now and then, for at least 1 or 2 years, there appears TWO SUNS in the sky.

For a very long time, I didn't care and forgot about it as soon as I was inside, or thought the fainter image in the sky was a reflection of the moon.

Now I see videos that say that "Planet X" also known as "Nebiru" is reaching closer to our planet Earth.
I have heard that story since the late 1990s, and why should I believe that, when nobody including NASA will even show us clear videos/photos of the moon's surface, which is a lot closer?

Whatever is happening, it is being ignored by most people.

where exactly is Sodom and Gomorroah ?

The term "Sodomite" was originally used to refer to an inhabitant of Sodom -- an ancient city  located somewhere on a plain in Canaan.

It  later became a legal term to refer to criminal sexual acts.
the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was homosexuality
men who wanted sex with men.

celebrities , musicians, actors, YouTubers , radio and tv and podcast hosts, etc etc etc
like to laugh at anyone that believes in a "God" that condemns homosexuality.

They are blind if they can't see that the past century that led to tolerance of it and made "legal" in many places, is likely just a step before pedophilia is also made "legal" as you rarely hear of homosexuals speak against groups like NAMBLA.

Here's a video with speakers from one of the most famous churches HATED in the USA that simply warn you. and the idiots in the audience laugh.

It appears the majority of this planet's population is turning filthier.
IF there is no God and no after-life punishment, then nothing to worry about.

IF there is a God, then will it look good on those that laughed at Him ?

I used to think from past evidence that Sodom was buried under the Dead Sea.
Checking today for some links, new proofs are it wasn't in that exact spot, but further south..

Somebody explain this...

 Imagine you are
on the edge of a city, and soon about to enter a township.
Somebody tell me-----
Is it normal everywhere for visitors or returning townsfolk to dump their fast food / junk food GARBAGE wherever they feel like?
Wherever they feel like littering and making what was cool and neat looking into a disaster zone for no reason?

I took these photos today, just now...

You are leaving Hamilton, where you were walking along - Main Street West, that road name just ended and has turned into Osler Drive.
Now, looking north and down into the ravine / park / Cootes Paradise I guess

you see trash tossed down the steep hill...

so, is it mainly teenagers? Are they the main culprits , being slobs?
I don't think it's just them, but a good chance it is drunk university students who travel through there and live nearby?

I remember when I was in Toronto or on roadtrips and hanging with a couple friends, back when they were in their late teens / early 20's, and these guys would dump trash out car windows anywhere and anytime.

Another friend, a hard working  (and much older) adult,
so, who was in his late 30s / early 40s, would purposely dump Burge King / McDoanlads / Wendy's / fast food garbage,  , including still un-eaten parts of the meal,
( and you all KNOW how much of a strong smell that disperses for a great distance due to that greasy food!)
it in the middle of the roads, especially on high speed roads, or highways,
because he hoped he would later see on the return trip, an animal that was demolished by a hit and run.

Yeah, I didn't do that stuff  too often myself
(and haven't hung out with those guys for a decade either).
No, I am not a treehugger or a staunch vegan or any "politically correct" gimp, but  I am not into doing that type of stuff.

On a happier note...

WELCOME TO DUNDAS

woman yells at an author with a tell-all book on a KISS member

One of the first "heavy" bands, if not the VERY first hard rock band I ever liked was KISS.
Their 1970s albums, and exposure in Tiger Beat and 16 and all the other teen pop/rock magazines back in the day were a good escape besides comic books.

The further you get into discovering a band you really dig, you end up in the zone of books and magazines - you learn the band's and musicians' history - musical and private and the people that surround them.
Some of the biographical info you will learn you won't know if it is true or false, or speculating gossip.

Now with the internet, you can even HEAR.
Months ago I read  http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/ace-frehley-announces-lineup-of-his-touring-band/ , and in the section below it, one posted the comment
"Rachael Gordon (Better than the Tube Bar, Jerky Boys, Alec Baldwin phone calls) on YouTube"

A googlesearch later and found it.

Years ago, when I was reading about another one of my fave bands that was on the Casablanca Records label, ANGEL ,  and

Gordon G.G. Gebert,  was on the keyboards for their reunion instead of Greg Giuffria.

The more I started for info on Gebert, there were nasty comments on music forums that he ripped off Ace Frehley and his fanclub members.
I have no idea if that is true.

But here is a phonecall from somebidy that is in the camp that doesn't trust him.

George Orwell's 1984 (1954) BBC Staring Peter Cushing

From wikipedia:

Nineteen Eighty-Four is a British television adaptation of the novel of the same name by George Orwell, originally broadcast on BBC Television in December 1954. The production proved to be hugely controversial, with questions asked in Parliament and many viewer complaints over its supposed subversive nature and horrific content. In a 2000 poll of industry experts conducted by the British Film Institute to determine the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes of the 20th century, Nineteen Eighty-Four was ranked in seventy-third position.

Why does CanadaPost want to put itself out of business?

with more and more people using email and messaging via social media sites,
and there are many other delivery companies out there for packages (sure, for now, more expensive, BUT it is guaranteed to make it directly to the address and within the time limit you pay for),
it would NOT be a problem for the national, provincial and municipal governments to create a similar system again for the monthly cheques and bills that are sent every month.
Financial institutions keep urging customers to switch to digital records only instead of paper, but if another postal system was created, I am sure they would use it if it underpriced the postage costs.

Yes, I am dreaming.

Governemnt unions would FUCK IT UP.

nevermind ....
